Old school jam with the No Name Funk Band at Shantel Lounge on NW 7th Ave and 54th street some years back, comic book version, one of a series. Classic old school miami party location at a major intersection in the heart of the city. I created this contact sheet from my original photography. The occasion was just a typical night at the club. I was there earlier that day and proprietor Coley Colebrook said come back through for the party. The No Name Funk band had some legitimate diamond selling record veterans like Demp, a sax player on Bob Marley's "Buffalo Soldier," alongside humble virtuosos with working class jobs who liked to cut loose and free without any corrupt industry influence. Liberty City has historically produced not only some of the best athletes in America, but also musicians, which is an objective reality that statistics can probably back up, but also common sense and any careful reading of liner notes and local interviews will justify as real. Nightclub business can be a tough racket and the Shantel Lounge closed down a while back but I won't be forgetting it any time soon and i've got some more cool creativity on the way from the influence and inspiration it had on me. Shout out old Coley Colebrook, havent seen him in a while but he was a cool dude outta the Bahamas who moved to Miami, joined the U.S. Airforce and opened a club enjoyed by some of the most powerful legal scholars in America believe it or not.
