the U.S. supreme Court struck down the tariffs and now we're in the process of paying back over 100 billion dollars to the importing companies who paid extra to sell foreign goods
Those companies raised their prices on all U.S. consumers in order to do business
Now those companies are getting their money back, and increased profit margin on those foreign goods
But consumers not getting anything in return, probably messed up a lot of people's credit, maybe even on purpose
That's refund fraud and price gouging at scale
It has been a long time since the U.S. Government has seen a redress of grievances at a similar scale through the physical power of public opposition, but if anything is going to piss off hundreds of millions of Americans, that should do it, even if it takes a minute for everybody to figure it out
I wonder if the amount of small businesses who got refunds will offset the number of Walmart shoppers who didnt
Don't forget all those money guzzling car loans, and costly tire replacement charges on electric vehicles
Most likely the protest will occur in the form of simultaneous mass non-payment of bills and fees, increased everyday fraud; and perhaps coincide with Ai enabled foreign-nation hack on financial institution records and data
Gen z ain't much for going outside and they were born and raised on refund fraud and online scams
Very interesting
